The Kimpton Clocktower Hotel is housed in a magnificent terracotta Grade II–listed building, whose story begins in 1890 when it first opened as the headquarters of The Refuge Assurance Company.

As an ever-evolving business, the hotel requires a diverse range of printed assets, from wayfinding graphics and environmental signage to cultural artwork and bespoke in-room materials. This project captures and expresses the hotel’s distinctive personality through illustration-led storytelling and timeless, considered design. With such a rich architectural and cultural legacy, the creative direction draws deeply from the spirit of Manchester, celebrating its industrial heritage, music scene, bold typography, and civic pride. The result is a cohesive visual language that bridges past and present.
