Yayoi Kusama is a legendary Japanese avant-garde artist famous for her obsessive polka dots, but she also explores everything from painting and fashion to poetry and video art. Her exhibition at Manchester’s Aviva Studios was the ultimate example of how art can double up as a high-impact brand activation. It was amazing to see how the use of repetitive pattern design and vibrant colours could completely take over a space, turning it into something so immersive, psychedelic, and instantly recognisable as her personal signature. 

By scaling her iconic style across large inflatable structures, she blended fine art with environmental design to create a completely unforgettable experience. For me, it is the perfect case study in how temporary installations can use a distinct visual identity to leave a lasting impression.
